Taco
Bell Nutrition Round-Up
In the fast food nutrition stakes. Taco Bell nutrition indications make
Mexican fast food a reasonable option if you are looking for a quick
lunch idea and you can stop at just one taco!
Once you double your order and ladle on the sour cream and guacamole,
the calories quickly add up.
But if you have the willpower to keep your order to a minimum you can
get away with a decent fast food fix. However don’t be deceived by
thinking that the salads are a low calorie alternative.
According to nutrition facts published on the Taco Bell website the
Fiesta Taco Salad is the most calorie expensive item on the menu coming
in at a whopping 840 calories and 38 grams of fat. This beats the
Chicken Chalupa Supreme which only has 360 calories and 20 grams of
fat. Even the Nachos BELLGRANDE has fewer calories than a
Fiesta Taco Salad with 770. Even if you ditch the deep fried taco shell
your salad will still have more calories than a Chicken Chalupa Supreme
with a side of sour cream.
This fact just goes to show that it pays to read nutrition facts. Who
would have thought that a Taco Bell Chicken BORDER BOWL is a smarter
choice than a salad? In fact if you add a side of Guacamole
and a side of sour cream to your Taco Fiesta Salad you will be eating
more calories (990) than the Chicken BORDER BOWL with a side of Cheesy
Fiesta Potatoes!
Do your order the soft tacos because you think that soft tortillas have
fewer calories than the deep fried crunchy taco shells? At Taco Bell,
crunchy tacos have fewer calories than soft tacos, but more grams of
fat. So if you are counting calories the crunchy taco is the way to go
with 170 calories and 10 grams of fat. But if you are watching your fat
intake, then perhaps the soft taco is a better alternative, with 200
calories but only 9 grams of fat.
Like to spice up your entrée with tasty sides? Taco Bell Nutrition
facts indicate that a side of zesty salsa is a better option than
either guacamole or sour cream. A side of salsa has only 15 calories
and is fat free. That means you can eat 5 sides of salsa and still not
consume as many calories as in one side of sour cream.
Taco Bell also offers a healthy option, which they call their Fresco
Menu. You can reduce both fat and calories by making your selections
from these menu options. If you select a Fresco option, both crunchy
and soft tacos are reduced by 20 calories and a Chicken BORDER BOWL
(without dressing) drops by 90 calories to 350 from 440.
