Decrease
Calorie
Intake... Does not mean fasting for weight loss.
Fasting
for weight loss is not the start of a healthy eating habit.
Decrease calorie intake across all meals, for a simple and effective
healthy eating habit. Keep in mind that the importance of weight loss
should not be defeated by inflicting further damage.
Your body is built to deal in 2 modes, Feast and Famine.
And, it's not working properly for weight loss in famine mode.
Ok, Ok, I get it!
I need to take in less calories in order to lose weight.
I think that has been clear for decades. But how do I decrease calorie
intake without feeling hungry all the time?
This is a very personal question
that has to be based on what you are eating today.
Are you having multiple drinks a
day that are full of sugar?
I believe that we all know that refined sugar is an unhealthy source of
calories.
So, why don't we start with removing some refined sugar?
I was looking at the contents of
my favorite carbonated soda, and found that it contains 46 grams of
sugar.
The USDA recommended daily intake of sugar is 40 grams. That single,
tasty beverage, puts me over my dietary needs.
So, Drinks are one place we can take out some unnecessary calories.
Where else can we decrease calorie intake?
What about the amount of Food we take in?
If we consume less, we decrease our calorie intake.
This comes down to Portion
Control
Not fasting for weight loss.
Taking
enough to satisfy your needs, but not gorging yourself with unneeded
calories that your body is just going to store as fat cells for future
use.
Drink a tall glass of water 15 to 30
minutes before a meal (see Hydration)
to help control how much you actually eat.
It's going to take
control of what you put on your plate as well.
Just make sure that there is
something on the plate...
Fasting for weight loss is very unhealthy.
Peer Influence On Eating Habits
It's not always conscious, but we tend to eat what the people around us
are eating.
We've all done it...
We're on a "DIET" and trying to only eat salads at lunch.
But the crew at work decides to all go out to lunch together.
And, lo and behold...
Suddenly, that standard salad with low cal dressing just doesn't look
so good. Especially when the 4 people ahead of you have all ordered
Giant Burgers, Fries, and Shakes. The next thing you know, you've
wolfed down a burger, half your fries, and the whole shake. Consuming
1200 or more calories in a single sitting.
And then you get into the
"Guilt" cycle. Where you beat yourself up,
and drop off the diet because you're just not "strong enough" to handle
it.

OH COME ON!
Take
Control of what you eat.
Don't beat yourself up about it.
It's time to decrease calorie intake in a reasonable way, that makes
falling off the wagon, more like a little bump in the road.
Decrease calorie intake from
each
meal.
Change your snacks.
Get rid of that soda habit.
And for god's sake, this is not a DIET, it's eating
properly for a healthy life.
Decrease your calorie intake, is only ONE of the
seven habits, don't forget to work on the rest.
Welcome along for the ride.
